Cat here from the Library Learning Services Unit! 2019 has been a busy year so far. January saw me take on a new role within the team as Information and Digital Literacy Project Officer. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to furthering Information and Digital Literacy at the University of Sheffield. As part of this role I will work with six Library Student Associates, and Liaison Librarians from the Faculty Engagement team, to co-create a set of case studies which capture and communicate innovative examples of IDL in the programme. Work with student associates will take place over 10 weeks, and will be complete before examinations.
The projects will map IDL to the academic programme by collaboratively identifying opportunities to embed our offer within learning teaching, assessment and feedback activities as part of the Programme Level Approach at The University of Sheffield
We’re currently undertaking recruitment with the departments to identify our Student Library Associates, once appointed we have a series of teachmeets and activities planned to start the projects. The first teachmeet is to engage in reflective writing, a practice which is incredibly useful for undertaking an action research project.
We’d love to hear about any similar projects you are undertaking!
The picture we have used is taken from a previous project we undertook with student associates. It shows Jasmine one of our previous student associates delivering a “speed networking” style workshop.
Thanks to Cat for this blog post.
